Shores Bible Study Theme: FAITHWORKS

Pine Cove Camper Reading Bible

You’ve probably heard the saying “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.” Of course, this saying goes beyond just fishing. I think there’s a problem in our Christian culture. Young believers aren’t spending time with Jesus in their daily lives. Whether it’s because we’re lazy and just don’t care, or we’re intimidated by the Bible and how to pray – we aren’t growing in our relationship with Jesus after professing our faith in him. We even use the excuse that we just can’t “find time” to read […]

MomLife Boot Camp 2015

Matching Moms

For the past four years, Pine Cove has had the opportunity to partner with FamilyLife’s MomLife Today to put on a life-changing event called MomLife Boot Camp. We had over 400 moms at every age and stage of life from across the country come together at Pine Cove’s Shores and Bluffs camps. It was a weekend to get away and enjoy fellowship, rest, and encouragement. We did loads of fun things throughout the weekend along with many incredibly impactful things. We did our annual MomLife Dance Party Friday night. Saturday night was filled with great fellowship, fun conversation, a movie […]

Travis’s Prayer

Shores Guy Cabin

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18 Ask any counselor, and they will tell you just how nerve-wracking stepping into your cabin on Sunday afternoon for the first time that week can be. Questions like “what if I don’t get along with the kids”, “what if we have different interests”, and “what if they don’t listen to me” can quickly take over and consume those final steps up from the gauntlet. The devil loves to fling lies of inadequacy, doubt, and insecurity towards our sweaty, sunburned faces. […]

Lessons From the Shores Staff

Shores Staff Praying

The majority of Pine Cove campers could tell you about the amazing life lessons and spiritual truths that they learn each year from their short stay at camp. On the last night of camp each week, Pine Cove has an awesome tradition called “Camper Share” where campers explain to all of camp the valuable things that God has taught them over the previous few days. However, there is a vast amount of lessons learned that are not expressed in a microphone that are just as life changing. Pine Cove is not only used by the Lord to teach the campers […]

MomLife Boot Camp 2014

Moms-at-Pine-Cove

On the opening night of MomLife Boot Camp, I prayed for great weather. In my mind that meant sunny and 75 degrees, but the Lord is much more creative. He sent a storm and then an amazing rainbow to remind us of His promise and His faithfulness. For the past three years, Pine Cove has had the opportunity to partner with MomLife Today to put on a life-changing event called MomLife Boot Camp. We had over 400 moms at every age and every stage from across the country come together at Pine Cove’s Shores and Bluffs camps. It was a […]

Men’s Weekend Recap

Men-Worshipping-at-Pine-Cove-Weekend

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13 There are fewer things more powerful than listening to a room of a few hundred men singing in unison and laughing together. On the weekend of January 24-26, over 450 men from multiple churches, small groups, families, and communities gathered at Pine Cove’s Shores, Bluffs, and Timbers camps. For years, several hundred men have been meeting at Men’s Weekend to be encouraged and to encourage each other as they take a weekend away from their daily routine and distractions in everyday life. This year, we […]

Nations Come Together On Common Shores

Shores Campers Playing Volleyball

During the previous session of the Shores’ 2-week program, Overflow, we were blessed to welcome two campers from France (a brother and sister) and two campers from Mexico (best friends). Their paths are different, but God united all of our cultures to ultimately learn, grow, and flourish under His name. For Clemence and Aurelien, the brother and sister from France, their adventure at Pine Cove started with a few clicks on our loyal friend Google. Their original motives were to experience a new culture and strengthen their English. So when arriving to the States in a land called Pine Cove […]

#ShoresReflect: First Half Summer Staff

Shores Staff Praying

One week of Orientation? Check. Five weeks of AWESOME camp-life? Check. Learned something? Definitely check. Ready to head home? …Debatable. As fast as each week has gone, it blows our minds that the first-half staff’s time at Shores is already over. Despite the varied responses to going home, everyone seems to cling to one truth: those six weeks had a significant and beneficial impact on everyone’s spiritual journey. The following are just a few (they would say painfully brief) stories on how individual staff members have grown and how the faithful Lord has revealed Himself: “Being a counselor at Pine […]

Life Transformation Before My Very Eyes

Ranch Counselor with Camper

I was in my sophomore year of college at the University of Tennessee in early 2008, sitting at my little apartment desk. The past two summers I had gone to work for my parents, who had moved to Destin, Florida the week after I graduated high school. It was a great job, running errands around the coastal tourist town in slacks and a polo shirt, making decent money as an “administrative assistant” to local real estate agents. But I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it again for a third summer. I was longing for more, for an adventure on […]
