The Gospel Cheer

At Pine Cove, we have a cheer for nearly everything: Bible study, lunch, free time, sitting down, club, soup, cleaning, and competition represent only a handful of our chants. We cheer because we are excited about every aspect of camp. But the most important thing that we do at Pine Cove is share God’s story of redemption with campers. Thus, it only makes sense that we should cheer about the Gospel.   In 2013, former Camp in the City Southeast Regional Director, Hannah “Patilla Piñata” Carter, challenged the Camp in the City staff to put the Gospel in a cheer. […]

A First-Time Camper Mom’s Experience

Editor’s Note: The following post was written by Michelle Tanzola, a mom who sent her daughter to Pine Cove Camp in the City for the first time last summer! Check out what the experience was like for her. I am not a “hoverer” when it comes to parenting. At least, I don’t like to think of myself as one. Yes, my daughter is my only child and yes, I may be just slightly overprotective, but a hoverer? No, not me. So when the prospect of sending her to overnight camp came up several years ago, I wholeheartedly embraced rejected the […]

Camp in the City: Day Camp in Your Neighborhood!

Seven years ago when we started Camp in the City, we never would have imagined taking camp to 100 different locations all over the South. We have the coolest jobs ever! We get to partner with the best churches while providing an awesome camp experience for them and the people in their communities. Nearly 450 college summer staff will join us as we hit the road in May who are pumped to share the love of Jesus with 1st through 6th graders across nine states. Along the way, our staff will also get the incredible opportunity of staying with families at […]

Camp In OUR City

Editor’s Note: This following post was written by Rebecca Ross, Children’s Pastor of North Metro Church in Marietta, Georgia, where our Camp in the City team set up camp for Week 3. East of the Mississippi River, Marietta, Georgia is a suburb of the city of Atlanta. It was here that we first experienced the arrival of a Pine Cove trailer and a rock climbing wall. It was love at first sight. 32 college students unloaded onto the campus of North Metro Church to leave the handprint of God on the lives of host families and campers. They sprawled out about the campus […]

Bible Study Theme: The High Fives

At Camp in the City this summer, we are excited to introduce campers to a group of friends called The High Fives. Each of these friends will help us understand a different aspect of who God is, and they will give us a real life example of what it means to be like Jesus and demonstrate His character. Each of us was created with a unique identity and one that reflects the God who made us in His image! Our elementary campers may think they know themselves pretty well, but what we really want them to understand is that there […]

Camp in the City at Fellowship of the Parks

In 2010, Pine Cove started a traveling day camp that partnered with churches to bring a high-energy program to neighborhoods across the South. One of Base Camp’s (now Camp in the City) original partners was Fellowship of the Parks in Keller, Texas. We began our partnership with FOTP because their mission aligns directly with the mission of Pine Cove. We sought out churches that are passionate about the gospel of Jesus being proclaimed in their church and in the community. The Lord has blessed FOTP with a staff that believes in that mission and He strategically placed them in a […]

Camp in the City at Mobberly Baptist

Pine Cove has the unique opportunity to partner with local churches through our day camp program called Camp in the City. Not only do we travel to 7 states, but we also have locations in close proximity to our headquarters in East Texas. One the churches we are privileged to do ministry with is Mobberly Baptist Church, located just east of Tyler in Longview, Texas. At Mobberly, the basis for service is founded on proclaiming Jesus Christ and making Him known. This mission is the groundwork for the outreach they do to declare the Glory of God to their community and across […]

Camp in the City at WoodsEdge

Camp in the City is Pine Cove’s traveling day camp that currently partners with 68 churches in seven states. One of those churches is WoodsEdge Community Church based in Spring, Texas, just outside of The Woodlands. This partnership arose from the fact that the mission of WoodsEdge is aligned with our mission: to be used by God to transform the lives of people for His purposes and His glory. In June of this past summer, we brought 32 of our incredible summer staffers to run a high-energy day camp for 2nd-5th grade for kids in the community. We used this […]

Base Camp’s New Name Is…

About four years ago, we started this awesome day camp program where we partner with churches for the purpose of outreach. We wanted to come alongside the church and do what we do best—camp. Our desire was to be used by the church to bring new families from their community into a year-round relationship with the church. This traveling day camp program is called Base Camp. We originally named Base Camp after the type of camp that you set up at the base of a mountain before you climb. We thought it was clever and went with the campy theme […]

Base Camps!

Base Camps!! Where you at? Where you at? We got a heavy load and we’re going on the road…. Base Camps!!! Base Camps is a partnership between Pine Cove and the local church where we take all the fun and excitement of camp on the road and create a day camp experience using the facilities of the local church. This program began three years ago as Pine Cove looked at ways we could become more effective as a ministry. We wanted to do something where we could be utilized to help churches do outreach in their individual communities, and connect people […]
