Weather Update

With a significant amount of rain in the forecast, we want to reassure parents that camper and staff safety is our top priority, and we will never take chances with the weather. Pine Cove trains resident and summer staff to recognize inclement weather situations and to adequately protect the lives of our campers and staff. We are constantly monitoring the weather, and we have the ability to notify all Pine Cove staff of any need to take shelter, move to higher ground, or any other need that may arise. At Pine Cove, we call rain “Liquid Sunshine!” The fun doesn’t […]

Board Announces New President and CEO

It is my great delight to announce that Reed Livesay has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Pine Cove. This decision came after a very thoughtful and deliberative process of the Board evaluating what kind of leader Pine Cove needs in the days ahead. We knew from the outset that we had a very strong internal candidate in Reed, who has been our Acting President since January. But when the Selection Committee interviewed him and evaluated his qualifications against the criteria we had developed for our next CEO, it became obvious that God has placed His hand on […]

This is our family’s favorite time of the year. Whenever someone asks our kids what they are doing for the summer, they always respond with an exuberant, “PINE COVE!” This will be our fifth summer at the Bluffs, and every year we are blessed by the staff, the memories, and the […]

‘Twas the Night Before Winterfest

We’re so excited for Winterfest, we can’t be the only ones dreaming about it! In fact, here’s the story of two campers who just can’t wait to get to camp. It’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas… Pine Cove style. We are proud to present “Twas the Night Before Winterfest”! ‘Twas the night before Winterfest, when all through the home Campers lay sleeping, as still as a gnome. Their trunks sat all packed in the light of the moon, In hopes that the night would bring morning soon. The campers were nestled all snug in their beds While visions of skit characters danced […]

Come sing along with us as we proclaim the arrival of our King with such classics as “Oh Holy Night,” “The First Noel,” and “I Heard the Bells.” We invited some of our camp summer staff members to help us make this album, and it’s their voices that you hear! We hope that this will create an environment that […]

Camp In OUR City

Editor’s Note: This following post was written by Rebecca Ross, Children’s Pastor of North Metro Church in Marietta, Georgia, where our Camp in the City team set up camp for Week 3. East of the Mississippi River, Marietta, Georgia is a suburb of the city of Atlanta. It was here that we first experienced the arrival of a Pine Cove trailer and a rock climbing wall. It was love at first sight. 32 college students unloaded onto the campus of North Metro Church to leave the handprint of God on the lives of host families and campers. They sprawled out about the campus […]

Zach’s Story

Dear Pine Cove, I just wanted to offer a quick explanation of this gift to Project 319 (Pine Cove’s scholarship program). My name is Alicia “Reverse, Reverse” Walz. I’m from Nebraska, and I was a counselor at the Timbers during the 2010-2011 summers. During my first summer, my little brother, Zach, went to Pine Cove for the first time as a camper at the Ranch. Zach has epilepsy – and this was the first time my parents had ever left him alone for an extended period of time. Needless to say, my parents were pretty anxious about it and making […]
