Taylor "Fish Face" Jervis

Taylor Jervis
Taylor was born, raised, and will hopefully dig his grave in Nashville, Tennessee. As a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, he googled "Christian summer camps", applied to the first four results, and ended up at a strange place called Pine Cove in the summer of 2008. After three months of counseling at the Ranch camp, his life was transformed! He has served as a Counselor, Senior Counselor, Program Director, and Senior Program Director at Pine Cove. Taylor is passionate about advancing the Gospel at camp, building relationships with college staff, and using humor to break down walls with anyone and everyone. He married his high school sweetheart, Lacey "Big Girl" Jervis, in 2011 and that was the best day of his life.

Shores Bible Study Theme: FAITHWORKS

Pine Cove Camper Reading Bible

You’ve probably heard the saying “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.” Of course, this saying goes beyond just fishing. I think there’s a problem in our Christian culture. Young believers aren’t spending time with Jesus in their daily lives. Whether it’s because we’re lazy and just don’t care, or we’re intimidated by the Bible and how to pray – we aren’t growing in our relationship with Jesus after professing our faith in him. We even use the excuse that we just can’t “find time” to read […]

Men’s Weekend Recap

Men-Worshipping-at-Pine-Cove-Weekend

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13 There are fewer things more powerful than listening to a room of a few hundred men singing in unison and laughing together. On the weekend of January 24-26, over 450 men from multiple churches, small groups, families, and communities gathered at Pine Cove’s Shores, Bluffs, and Timbers camps. For years, several hundred men have been meeting at Men’s Weekend to be encouraged and to encourage each other as they take a weekend away from their daily routine and distractions in everyday life. This year, we […]

Camp is God’s Idea

Weekend Winter Camp

When I was a kid, I went to as many church retreats and weekend camps as I could. I would jump at the opportunity to spend time with my friends away from home, hang out with the older guys who lead our group, and play sports and games with kids my age. It was a blast. But the more church weekend retreats I went on, the more I realized that they aren’t just for hanging out with friends and playing big youth group games where I might win a prize or something. The more times I went go throughout my […]

Life Transformation Before My Very Eyes

Ranch Counselor with Camper

I was in my sophomore year of college at the University of Tennessee in early 2008, sitting at my little apartment desk. The past two summers I had gone to work for my parents, who had moved to Destin, Florida the week after I graduated high school. It was a great job, running errands around the coastal tourist town in slacks and a polo shirt, making decent money as an “administrative assistant” to local real estate agents. But I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it again for a third summer. I was longing for more, for an adventure on […]

MomLife Bootcamp

MomLife Weekend Attendees

As a ministry, it is always a blessing to partner with like-minded organizations. For the second year in a row, the Shores and Bluffs camps partnered with FamilyLife’s MomLife Today on April 12-14 to host one of Pine Cove’s most unique events, MomLife Weekend! Since 2008, MomLife Today’s mission has been to “live MomLife together, to encourage, equip, and offer help and hope! We don’t have it all figured out, but we know the One who does!” And as we say at Pine Cove, our mission is “to be used by God to transform the lives of people for His […]
