Kayla "Chica" Sims

Kayla Sims
Kayla was born and raised in the great state of Tennessee, where she attended college at the University of Tennessee. She graduated with a degree in Spanish and a minor in Sociology. After hearing stories about a camp far off in Tyler, Texas called Pine Cove, she had to apply. From summers 2011 to 2013, "Chica" served on summer staff as a counselor, nanny, and Wild Woods senior counselor at the Woods. She then joined the full-time staff at the Shores in the fall of 2013 where she now serves as Women's Director. In August of 2015, Kayla married Barrett Sims, the Ranch Camp Director! Kayla loves hiking, traveling, and missions. She considers it a true joy to get to serve in a ministry where lives are changed by the power and truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

MomCamp 2017

A conference just for MOMS?! Yep, MomCamp is all about moms and their relationship with the Lord… while getting to enjoy the best parts of camp! We had more than 250 moms at the Shores and Bluffs this past April for a jam-packed weekend! The best part about the weekend was the life-change that we got to witness. Six women said they put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior! Praise the Lord for His work in their lives! Each year we are blown away by what God does in and through this weekend event. Our emcees were Tracey […]

Women’s Conference 2017

What a blessing it was to have so many women come to the Shores March 3-5 for our annual Women’s Conference! It was an incredible weekend getting to see ladies laugh together, worship together, and rest together. Carrie Langemeier, wife of our Chief Ministry Officer Craig “Dutch” Langemeier, was our speaker for the weekend. Carrie encouraged us through stories and scripture to “live loved”. She also gave a powerful message on forgiveness and what it looks like to fall forward in to the arms of Jesus in the midst of failure. Please enjoy these audio recordings from the conference: Carrie […]

It was a blast getting to see women of all stages of life eat together, laugh together, and worship the Lord together. Cindy Hawks, a DTS graduate who is married to the pastor of Hill Country Bible Church in Austin, was our speaker […]

MomLife Boot Camp 2014

On the opening night of MomLife Boot Camp, I prayed for great weather. In my mind that meant sunny and 75 degrees, but the Lord is much more creative. He sent a storm and then an amazing rainbow to remind us of His promise and His faithfulness. For the past three years, Pine Cove has had the opportunity to partner with MomLife Today to put on a life-changing event called MomLife Boot Camp. We had over 400 moms at every age and every stage from across the country come together at Pine Cove’s Shores and Bluffs camps. It was a […]

To Northern Louisiana, Arkansas, and Back

#itsfallyall. Which means the recruiting continues! I got to be a part of the team that traveled to Northern Louisiana. We interviewed at ULM, LA College, LA Tech and ended in University of Arkansas –Monticello. When thinking back on the trip, “loaves and fish” is what I believe best describes it. Let me explain. On the final morning of our trip, Shawn shared in our meeting how God had multiplied our efforts. He took what we brought and gave us over and beyond anything we expected just as He did when Jesus and His disciples fed the five thousand with […]
